Can we start Turkish federation?

List of Turkish-speaking anarchist websites that have a RSS feed:

If a domain required for the federation we have domain called: anarsistkutuphane.org (Turkish: Anarchist Library). The federation can be used as federasyon.anarsistkutuphane.org subdomain (Turkish: Federation . Anarchist Library)).

Edit: But the name Anarchist Federation can cause confusion because there was an organization with the same name in the past. Turkish version can named as Anarchist News like Catalan version, namely in Turkish: "Anarşist Haberler".

Hi, this is a very good idea, thanks for the suggestion! There seem to be enough anarchist websites in Turkish language to make it worth lunching a new platform. I will talk with the team this week to make a plan how we can help and check the procedure for registering a Turkish domain name

As for the domain extension (TLD) correct me if I am wrong but I think Turkish is an official language only in Turkey? So maybe we can use a .TR domain name instead of .NET just like we did for the Greek and Italian websites.

Ok then if we use a dot net domain maybe it solves the problem around potential confusion about the Anarsist Federasyon. I would still like to know which years it existed. If there was an organization of the same name recently, then we should use a different name. If it's a very old organization that has been dead for a long time, then it's probably fine. The organization called DAF (Revolutionary Anarchist Federation) ended late last year. The reason was disclosures about intra-organizational violence, harassment and bullying. Because of these situation, I think that using this name will create a bad situation for people's memories.

Turkish is the only official language and the Turkish state prohibits the use of other languages, for example 8 million people in Turkey speak Kurdish and the Kurdish language is not official. I think we should be sensitive about not using the .tr domain because it can create national confusion. Also, companies that register .tr domain name are not reliable for us, no anarchist or radical/revolutionary organizations in Turkey use .tr domains.

So either AnarsistFederasyon.tr or AnarsistHaberler.tr

For these reasons, I think anarsisthaberler.net is good.

Can you help with the translation? What we usually do is start with a machine translation (DeepL or Google Translate) then we ask a native speaker to review the texts and correct grammar. There are 2 main translation tasks :

The presentation text https://www.anarchistfederation.net/about-us/
The language configuration files containing text found on the website interface. This part is a bit more complicated because the text includes some HTML code that must be kept unedited. The text is usually very short phrases or single words, so often the machine translation is very bad with shorter texts. There is no context so it's not easy to guess.
The text in the Wordpress navigation menus and sidebar

I will create an RSS list of inactive anarchist websites that speak Turkish. There are also a few sites that don't have RSS feeds, I have proxyed them over Politepol (pol.anarsistkutuphane.org), we can use it. And there are a few anarchist organizations that don't have websites but have twitter, we can feed them over RSSHub from Twitter/Nitter.

The language file to translate is a PHP file with a bunch of variables
And the last part of the translation (navigation menus) is in WordPress

Yes, only active web sites. Looks like many links are dead in @Anarcho_Tech_Team list
Our scrapers will only get the last 10 articles, so even if we add an inactive website to the list, only the last 10 articles would be archived. Also, when a source hasn't published any post for over 1 year, it is automatically disabled by our robots

Another great idea and also something we have been looking into, but there are some issues we need to address

I am not familiar with RSSHub, but if it relies on Twitter Developer API then it will be complicated. Last time we tried to register on Twitter API they rejected our application. Twitter is very strict on who they allow access to the API, same with Facebook.
Where to put the tweets on the website? Standard articles are long texts, but tweets are very short text of fewer than 280 characters. If we mix articles with tweets on the platform, the feed would be filled with low-value articles
Many tweets are actually just sharing a link to an article found on the internet, we can't repost that on the platform

Hi,

Do you have an email address or any way to contact you privately to send you the username and password for the WordPress admin? I'm not familiar with GnuPG and this forum doesn't have private messages apparently (need to migrate to another forum app eventually)

We started aggregating some websites on the new Turkish platform, but more work is needed because some websites aren't displaying correctly. For example the website Anarcho-copy.org is mostly empty articles with PDF links, so our scrapers can't get the post content to post on WP. We use FullTextRSS by FiveFilters to get the post content and it's not always 100% accurate especially with non-standard websites

I talked again with the team about the inactive websites, and maybe we can update our scrapers to adapt to inactive websites and scrape older articles. But there is a problem that needs to be solved first: how to build the RSS feed with the content of the entire website?

This is a good idea! and thanks for the link to Pol, we've been looking for a solution to generate RSS feeds for websites that don't have them, I will share this with the team

It's a software that serves its purpose, but it still has flaws. This is normally the open source code of the paid service politepol.com, but features such as JavaScript loading are restricted in the self-hosted version, so it is not as efficient as in the paid version. But it still doesn't have much alternative, because this software saves it in the database when creating feeds from other sites, so that timed RSS feeds can be created. There is another software similar to this one, Feedropolis. But we couldn't use it because it takes more space on the server than PolitePol, you can also try it.

There is also a software called morss, you can check it, it can easily proxy RSS feeds and present them in different formats.

Pol can't do this, because it parses single web page (like main index page) and generates timed feed from selected paths.
