Should Indymedia be supported by this platform?
We just had to remove Indymedia Portland because it's sharing a conspiracy bullshit article called "covid is a hoax perpetrated by media"
Indymedia used to be an interesting concept, but today many Indymedias are a shitshow. On InfoLibertaire.net we had issues with Indymedia Bruxsel - after many moderators quit, the site eventually became a hot mess where trolls could post anything they want. We discussed this problem (in french) here: https://www.libertaire.net/discussion/infolibertaire-net-actualites-et-infos-militantes-en-direct.15282/page-2
The problem with some Indymedia sites is there is no moderator team to approve the articles, so trolls can write shit and it will be published immediately. The moderators can remove it later, but it will already be reposted by our platform, so that's a huge problem... Our platform isn't designed to support "open publishing" sites
I'm not sure if we should continue to support Indymedia if we can't ensure the articles meets the minimum standards as described in the presentation text.
As of today, the platform supports the following Indymedia sites:
Indymedia Los Angeles (USA) http://la.indymedia.org/newswire.rss
Indymedia DC (USA) https://dcindymedia.org/rss.xml
Indymedia Rochester (USA) http://rochester.indymedia.org/rss.xml
IndyMedia San Francisco (USA) https://www.indybay.org/syn/generate_rss.php
Indymedia Repression (UK) https://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/repression/newswire.rss
Personally, I think Indymedia mostly sucks, it's outdated, not serious, badly managed, and unreliable. Some are better managed than others but I don't know them so I can't support them.
